Alan Russell Aest of Gig Harbor, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, on April 30, 1939, to Beatrice Daphyn McGovern and Raymond George Aest, Alan graduated from Stadium High School and attended the University of Washington and Seattle University. In the late 1950s, he served as an ambulance driver in the U.S. Army. He began his career as a naval draftsman at Tacoma Boatbuilding Company and later became a naval architect, retiring in 1989 to pursue his passions: boating, skiing, cheering on the Washington Huskies, exercising at the YMCA, rollerblading, mountain biking, and traveling with family and friends.


He is survived by his daughter, Rachel; his sons, Randy and Greg; and their families. He was predeceased by his former wife, Loretta Goodman, and his beloved brother, Raymond Aest.

Alan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
