Alice Gail Orr

Alice Gail Orr was born on February 19, 1947, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Ross and Orpha McCoy Basham. She was known affectionately to friends and family as Gail, and lovingly called Mimi by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—a name that perfectly captured her warm, fun-loving spirit, and deep devotion to family.

Gail devoted much of her professional life to her family-run businesses. She served as the CFO of Orr Concrete Services, where her intelligence and strong work ethic helped build a thriving company. Her entrepreneurial spirit also extended to other ventures, including Scent of Peace Candles, The Café in Palo Pinto, and dog breeding. Though she never worked in the field, she was also a licensed cosmetologist and cosmology instructor.

Adventure was woven into the fabric of Gail’s life. She had a true passion for cruising, embarking on 68 cruises and spending an incredible 502 days at sea. Her adventurous spirit extended far beyond the ocean—she loved scuba diving, kayaking, camping, shopping, and riding her e-bike. Gail also had a well-known ornery streak and took great joy in pranking and playfully scaring those she loved, always with a mischievous grin close behind.

Family was Gail’s heart. She cherished attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and treasured every opportunity to gather the family together. Gail loved deeply and generously, and she was always willing to help anyone in need. Her kindness, laughter, and fierce love will be remembered by all who knew her.

Gail is survived by her daughters, Kelly Nazifpour, Buffy Lewis (Davis), and Stacy Choate (Richard); her sister, June Richards; and her grandchildren: Tana Loy, Shayda Pucylowski (Austin), Justin Lewis, Tiffany Blakeney, Dakota Lewis, Hunter Lewis (Ashlan), Trapper Lewis (Trinity), Ricky Lewis, and Blake Choate (Kelsie).

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kallen Loy, Alex Loy, Carys Loy, Theodore Pucylowski, Archibald Pucylowski, Torin Lewis, Nathan Peterson (Jayce), Nathalie Blakeney, Ransom Reid Lewis, Ridge Lewis, Jace Lindley, Raylan Lewis, and Ryatt Choate; and her great-great-grandchild, Sage Peterson.

Gail leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Jody Thomas, John Thomas, Crystal Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Clint Richards, Leah Richards, and Bennie Biery, along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband and love of her life, Butch Orr; her sister, Lynda Thomas; her brother-in-law, Johnny Thomas; and her grandson, Ransom Greenwell Lewis.

Gail’s legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for her family. Her faith in Jesus Christ was central to her life, providing her with strength, hope, and peace, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at rest in the loving arms of her Savior. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

In keeping with Gail’s wishes, there will be no public celebration of life. The family will gather privately to remember and honor her.
