Allen Eugene Capps of Tacoma Washington was born on May 5th 1932 in Auburn Washington to Thelma and Eugene Capps. He passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Friday October 28th 2016.
He was a loving husband, devoted father and a great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Julayne, son Richard Spooner, daughter Merrilee
Mussig (Dana), granddaughters Shaylin, Kelsey, Ashley (Mussig), Victoria and Braiden (Spooner) all of Tacoma, and a grandson Dan Music of Bremerton, a beloved sister Janet Mathews and brother-in-law Norm Mathews of Vashon Island, nephews Tom (Julie) Mathews of Oregon and Jay Mathews (deceased), nieces Vicky and Cheryl Mathews and Cindy (Dick) Swenson all of Vashon, and many other nieces and nephews. Awaiting him in Heaven were his son Stewart Capps and daughter-in-law Terry Capps.
Allen graduated in 1950 from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, spent two years at University of Washington then joined the United States Coast Guard from 1952-1955 where he served in the territory of Alaska. Following his years of service, he worked several jobs in Seattle including the GE Corporation. In the 1960's, he moved his family to Tacoma. He became a member of Fircrest Golf Club where he enjoyed many years of golf and friendships. His greatest achievement was his successful lumberyard, Contractors Building Supply, which he built from the ground up on a plot of land in Lakewood Washington. He was the owner operator for over 20 yrs. before retiring in 1988.
Allen and Julayne then spent 25 happy years in Sun City West Arizona as winter residents where golf became his passion; and the friends he met there and those that moved down from Washington were all very special to him. Allen loved living in the warmth and beauty of Arizona.
Our beloved Allen is at peace now in the Glories of Heaven. The legacy he left behind for us is a spirit of generosity and a joy for life. He will be missed very much until we meet again.
No services will be held. A get-together to celebrate his life will be in his home at 5713 N Ruby St. in Tacoma on November 12th between 1pm and 4pm. All are welcome.
