Alvin Joseph Brunner

Alvin J. Brunner valiantly and peacefully passed in his home on August 5, 2025. He was 80. Al's career in the newspaper printing and publishing industry was long and distinguished. Al was President and Chief Operating Officer of Autologic Information International, of Thousand Oaks, CA, a subsidiary of Volt. Al's career continued as Director of U.S. Newspaper Business Group for the AGFA Corporation and Vice President of Business Development in South America, Korea, and India for Glunz and Jensen after years as the Vice President of Sales and Customer Service. 

Al was born on June 24, 1945, in Allentown, PA to Joseph A. Brunner and Anna Vanin. He graduated from Dieruff High School and Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania with degrees in Chemistry and Math. He later achieved master’s degrees in Finance and Marketing from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Barbara Annette Sandherr Brunner from Jim Thorpe, PA, as well as his son, Jonathan Sandherr Brunner, daughter-in-law Melissa Goette, and granddaughter Rosalie Skye. Also surviving is Al’s brother James Brunner of Mertztown, PA, and sisters-in-law Deborah Brunner of Mertztown, PA and Eileen Sandherr of West Barnstable, MA, and there are 6 nephews and their wives and children. Al is predeceased by his brother Dr. Thomas R. Brunner and sister-in-law Denise Brunner of Yardley, PA.

Al traveled the world working long hours and weekends, but he also traveled for joy.  He loved captaining and hosting friends on his sail boat in the British Virgin Islands for years, as well as ski trips throughout the United States and the world.  He also enjoyed golfing.  He will be greatly missed.
