Antonio “Tony” B. Alvarez passed away peacefully by his family side on June 8, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jesus and Ignacia Alvarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ernesto, Jesse, and Johnny Alvarez; sisters-in-law Alice and Sylvia Alvarez; and brothers-in-law Luis Hernandez and Ruben Arrendondo.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Esther Alvarez, his sisters; Mary Alice Hernandez & Lupe Arrendondo; sister-in-law Selia Alvarez; children Vincente, Marisela (Eric), Roland, Lori, & Jo Ana (Vern); grandchildren Alexis, Alaina, Allysa, Bianca, Sariah, Vernal, Amber, Amanda, Allyse, Abby, Jimmy, Brandon, & Jaren; eight great-grand-children.
Tony served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. After 35 years of dedicated service, he retired as Fire Chief at NAS Kingsville. After retirement he worked as a Realtor for Century 21 for 15 years.
Tony was admired by co-workers, friends, and family for his calm, friendly, and generous spirit—always greeting others with a warm kind smile. Tony enjoyed the simple joys of life especially walking his beloved dogs, Chico #1, Chico #2, Honey & Elsie. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he had the pleasure to meet quarterback Dak Prescott at a meet and greet function. Tony was known by cooking his famous tacos & migas, embarking on a road trip to a sporting event or casino, Tony lived each day to the fullest. His generous heart and joyful spirit will be remembered forever by those who knew and loved him.
A mass Service is set for Monday, June 30, 2025 at 9 a.m. at Saint Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, located at 3901 Violet Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas. A Military Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the VA Cemetery, 9974 IH-Access Rd.
