Arlene (Sipka) Hayden, 79, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023, after a long illness. Born on June 21, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, Arlene was a graduate of North High School. She met Don Hayden a few years later while working at Roadway Express, and they married in August 1965 and moved to California in 1966 when Don was transferred by Goodyear Aerospace.
In California, Arlene made many friends and was active in her children’s sports and activities. Once the kids were grown, she fell in love with travel, and she and Don enjoyed several international cruises, domestic road trips, and even a cross-country train adventure—sometimes with family and friends, and sometimes just the two of them. Arlene was also an avid reader, a talented crafter, and she absolutely loved any kind of get-together with family and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Helen Sipka, and her sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bob Klingensmith. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don; her three children, Laurie (Christopher) Sanchez, Brian (Barbara) Hayden, and Mark Hayden; her four grandchildren, Ric Sanchez, Rene Sanchez, Nathan Sanchez, and Andy Hayden; her brother Stan Sipka; her sisters Betty (Dick) Kemp and Helene (Tom) Csvany; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services were held April 26 in Placentia, California, followed by a private interment at Ascencion Catholic Cemetery on April 27 in Lake Forest, California.
