Arthur Carl Brown, Jr of Grapevine, Texas passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 surrounded by family at the home he cherished in Grapevine on the lake. Art is survived by his wife, Gail, with whom he was about to celebrate 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Diane Testa, son-in-law Trey Testa, daughter Dana Rust and son-in-law Jeremy Rust. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Trinity Rust, Gabrielle Rust, Zachary Testa and Mia Testa; his brother Paul Brown, sister-in-law Cindy Brown; and his sister Marjorie Lazzar and many nieces and nephews.
Art was born March 5th 1942, in Hammond, Indiana to Arthur C Brown, Sr. and Gertrude Schmueser Brown. He was raised in Calumet City, Illinois but summer vacations were always spent on fishing trips in Minnesota where his love of the water was born. Art’s family attended St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hammond and it was there that he married his high school sweetheart, Gail Knorr in 1962. He graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in finance and worked for his father’s electric business – AC Brown Electric. He went on to sales and management, and after moving to Texas in 1981, he worked as a financial manager for Reynold’s company, an electrical supplier in Dallas.
In spite of the many physical challenges that he faced over the years, Art never let his disability overshadow his trust in the goodness of God. His firm faith and love for Jesus directed his life and anchored his family. In his home, Jesus was priority and you could never call the house without hearing “God Loves You’.
In their free time, Art and Gail loved to travel and enjoyed trips visiting all but one of the 50 states. Art was an avid fisherman and spent many weekends fishing on Lake Grapevine or entertaining his grandchildren in his boat. The home that he and Gail shared on the lake was a dream come true, and they spent over 40 years there, raising two daughters and building a close-knit family based on faith and love.
Celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday July 31, 2022 at 2pm
