Arthur Lee Sykes Jr

Arthur Lee Sykes Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 3, 2025. Born on June 14, 1933, in Norfolk, Virginia, Arthur lived a life full of love, service, and faith.

Arthur was the cherished husband of Jannae, for 39 years and together they shared a bond that exemplified partnership and devotion. He was the proud father of Arthur Sykes and Sheryl Thorpe, providing a nurturing and encouraging environment that shaped their lives. His loving nature extended to his siblings, including his sister Shirley Sykes and brother Romero Brown, both of whom will carry forward the memories of his warmth and kindness.

Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Sykes, and his brother, David Sykes and sister Barbara Brown, all of whom he held dear in his heart. Their legacy of love and family was a foundation throughout his life.

As he transitions to his heavenly home, joined by the beloved souls that have gone before him, Arthur leaves behind a legacy marked by integrity, faith, and an unwavering love for his family. He now rests in the presence of Jesus Christ, his Savior and Lord, free from sickness and pain.

Arthur Lee Sykes Jr. will be profoundly missed by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends who were fortunate enough to know him and will forever be remembered for the light he brought into their lives.
