.Barbara Irene MinchewOctober 7, 1944 ''' June 21, 2012 On the evening of June 21, 2012 Barbara lost her battle with lung cancer. She fought this battle over a three year period. This shows her strength, toughness and willingness to fight against even the most impossible odds. She used the cancer treatment time to play card games and her electronic Yahtzee game. She was always willing to show new players the rules and the strategy of playing cribbage. She met some really wonderful people in her struggle to act and feel normal when her hair was falling out, not feeling great from the chemo treatment. She had an optimism that would not quit. She did not believe the cancer would beat her until the last hospital visit just before Mother'?s day. She got to spend that night with both her surviving kids Debbie and Scott. She even got to enjoy a Dairy Queen sundae snuck in by her kids on special days. Her greatest joy was playing with her two cats, Vince and Kobe. She loved playing card games with her kids and then gardening when the weather permitted. Others would describe Barbara as Loyal, fair to a fault, feisty as all get out, tough cookie, honest to the core, upfront about just anything, affectionate and hilarious when time presented. She will be missed by many. Barbara is survived by her children Debbie Minchew, Scott Tyrrell (Kathleen), grandchildren Heather Hubler (Richard), Brian Hubler, Anthony Tyrrell, Kaylee Asmus, Jessica Asmus, her cats Vince and Kobe, best friend Marie Portis, her brothers Donald Marshall, Dennis Cox( Laura), Larry Cox (Holly), Ronnie Cox, sisters Janice Irish, Darlene (Susan) Cox and many nieces and nephews and cousins. There will be no service per her request. She did not want people to cry over her but to remember the good and fun times they each shared with her during her lifetime. Her ashes will be scattered later by her family. She is preceded in death by her two children Donald Minchew and Sheila Tyrrell, brothers Danny Marshall and Norman Cox.
