Barbara Lee Stretch

Barbara Lee Stretch "Grandma Barb" passed away peacefully at home on August 29th from complications due to dementia.
Barb was born on May 10, 1937 in Butte, Montana to Margaret and Fred Giacomino. She grew up in Butte, and married her high school sweetheart, Edwin "Eddy" Stretch. They were known as the most beautiful couple in Butte. Barbara and Ed moved to Spokane in 1968 for work and to raise their family. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Barb is best known for her love and dedication to her family. She devoted her life to taking care of her grandchildren as a full-time babysitter for over thirty years. She was famous for her original embroidered hand-made quilts that every grandchild received with love; along with her ability to nurture & rock every grandchild to sleep like little angels. Barb will be remembered for her devotion and affection for her family, dancing with Ed to their favorite music, and her great sense of humor that didn't waiver even in the toughest of times.
Barb is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ed Stretch and their five children; Pat Stretch, Jerry Stretch (Corena), Traci Kadoya (Jerry), Peggy Barnes (Steve), and Rudy Stretch (Kimberly); Beloved sister Marlene Brozovich (Chuck); as well as her 20 beloved grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Barbara's life will be remembered and celebrated at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, September 10, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Ave, Spokane Valley. A reception will follow at Pat Stretch's residence in the Spokane Valley.
In lieu of flowers, Barb would be honored by a donation to a favorite charity or to the "Lady of the Rockies" in Butte, Montana. Barb's family would like to thank all their family and friends for their loving thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
Let us remember the smiling, the laughing, the caring, and the loving Grandma Barb! Let us remember the good times—always!
