Beverly Winkler, born on September 23, 1938, in Melrose Park, Illinois, departed this world on January 27, 2026. She was a woman of many talents and passions, whose loving nature and creative spirit touched many lives throughout her time with us.
Beverly, lovingly known as Bev, spent her formative years in Melrose Park, where she attended Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois. She grew up in a family that cherished the outdoors, often spending weekends hunting and fishing. While these activities may not have been her greatest pleasure, she cherished the moments shared with her family during their excursions up north.
In a moment that would change her life, Bev met her beloved husband, John Winkler, at the Division Lounge. Their love story began with that fortuitous meeting, leading them to exchange vows on May 2, 1960. Together, they forged a life filled with love, moving from Wheaton, Illinois, to Glen Ellyn, Nevada, and ultimately settling in Phoenix, Arizona.
Professionally, Bev took her talents to the banking world, where she worked alongside a friend in bookkeeping, showcasing her meticulous nature and dedication. However, it was in her leisure pursuits where her true passions blossomed. A devoted animal lover, she had a profound affection for dogs and even ventured into the world of horse care at one time. Her creative side flourished as she nurtured her hobbies, resulting in countless quilts and crocheted blankets—each piece a testament to her talent and warmth. She bred and showed dogs and had a love for Travel, her and John sailed 70 cruises around the world.
Beverly was a faithful member of River of Life Lutheran Church, where her devotion was evident in her contributions to the community. She lovingly crafted baptismal cloths for the church and created a quilt that will forever symbolize her generous spirit and commitment to her faith.
A celebration of Beverly Winkler's life is scheduled for March 13, with the time to be determined. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
