Blanche Ann Volz passed away peacefully at her home in Bellevue, WA on May 18, 2016. Present with her at the time of her death was her beloved husband and soulmate of 69 years, Joseph Albert Volz Jr. as well as children and grandchildren. Blanche was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Blanche and "Joe" lived in their home for 61 years and Mom died in the place she loved and where she wanted to depart this earth from.
Blanche was born on August 4, 1922 in Seattle , WA. to Philo and Charlotte Kinnear and grew up near Leschi Beach on Lake Washington in a beautiful house her Dad built overlooking the Lake. She graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle. She was the youngest of 5 children and the last surviving family member. Blanche and Joe had 3 children; Ed, Suzanne and Bruce and was close to them and their spouses Lyn, Larry and Beth. After raising her children Blanche went to work at Fredrick & Nelson in South Center Mall promoting to manager of the restaurant, deli and candy departments. She retired after a successful 20 year career. In addition to her children Blanche and Joe had 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was dearly loved by her family and will be missed tremendously.
Blanche married her husband Joseph in 1947 while he was still in the Navy. Joseph was discharged the day their son Ed was born but later recalled to serve during the Korean War conflict on the day their daughter Suzanne was born. Blanche devoted her early married life to supporting her husband and raising their children, moving with her husband in 1955, from Seattle to a new development called Eastgate. Blanche and Joe joined the several community groups in the area. Blanche loved contributing to the community as well as decorating her home and working in their yard. Her children remember many after school picnic lunches at Lake Sammamish State Park and later, evenings and dinner spent on their boat in Lake Washington with an occasional dip in the Lake to cool off or just for fun. Blanche loved to read and belonged to several book clubs.
Blanche and Joe were faithful members of St. Madeline Sophie Catholic Church and were visited weekly by Steven Ministers. Mom's faith was in her gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. Though she no longer is physically with us on this earth, Mom is walking the streets of glory, pain free in her new body with our Heavenly Father and her predeceased mother, father sisters and brothers while she awaits the rest of her family, still alive on this earth. We love you Mom,
