Bruce was the only child of Helen & Roy Johnson. Born and raised in Port Chester, N.Y. After graduating High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Gunner's Mate. Once discharged, he worked for Singer Sewing Machines as a repairman. He actually met his wife to be, Carole at his Singer store. They married and moved to their newly built home in South Setauket, N.Y. He subsequently worked for Broadway Academy Sporting Goods and then Stony Brook University Hospital as a Sterile Supply Tech. After his wife Carole, passed in 2006, Bruce continued to work full-time until his retirement at age 70 and remained in their home until 2022. His health deteriorated and I helped him relocate to Yulee, Florida so he would be close to my wife and I. He remained independent until health issues and needs required nursing home residency.
As for my Cousin Bruce , he remained outgoing and gregarious. He was a genuine people person, always striking up conversations with just about everyone. His appetite at meals and family gatherings was legendary. He loved sports, especially Basketball, Football, Fishing and Golf. Bruce was my only Cousin. We were not a large family, but we were a close knit one. The family gatherings along with the laughter and good times we shared will forever be in our hearts. Farewell " Cuz " - David
Bruce wanted to keep things simple and he preplanned his cremation and burial at sea.
