Carol Dorothy Southwick

Carol Dorothy "Newcombe" Southwick July 27, 1937 to September 24, 2020

Carol was born to John and Dorothy "Nash" Newcombe on July 27, 1937 in Victoria , B.C. Canada. She was the first of three children and was later joined by her sister Joan and brother John. Carol began her early education at Saint Ann's Catholic School in Victoria B.C. She fondly remembered her First grade teacher, Sister Mary Bridgett and stayed touch with her up until shortly before her death in February of 2020.

At the age of 19 Carol and her sister, Joan were having lunch a local diner when a strapping, 6' 3" young American walked in. Carol told her sister, "That is the man I am going to marry." It wasn't long until Carol invited the handsome young man to lunch only to tell him later that she had no money. That was the day our father said, "Your mother caught me." The two were married on July 6, 1956 and went on to have four children. Gene, Julia, Kathryn and Dale. From that day on the two were seldom apart. They worked together in raising their young family along with running their businesses both in Canada and the United States.

Carol's beloved husband Arthur (Art) Southwick passed away on March 15, 2019. Carol lost her love, her best friend and in their end years, her caretaker as Carol was diagnosed with Dementia. At the time of her passing, Carol was living in Saint Ansgar, IA.
