Carolyn, 91, passed peacefully on May 7, 2018 in her home in Des Moines.
She was born on February 27, 1927 in Salem, OR to Dr. Charles and Stella
Bates. Carolyn attended Salem HS, then continued her education at
Willamette University and Pacific University. She worked as an elementary
school teacher for many years before exploring her entrepreneurial side,
opening a consignment clothing boutique with two of her closest friends.
Carolyn was a woman most would describe as fun, kind, generous, and
friendly. She was often the life of the party and if there was ever an
adventure to be had, she would be in with both feet, a naughty laugh, and
probably a new stunning outfit to celebrate the occasion. Those close to
Carolyn know that she lived by two basic tenets - have fun, and don't do it
without me! Carolyn enjoyed boating, shopping, painting, beachcombing,
golf, and travel. She was a member of PEO, Twin Lakes G&CC, and several
charities.
Carolyn is survived by her soulmate and husband of 51 years, Norman
Anderson, her sons, Dr. Kenneth Prince (Angela) and Steven Prince (Mauria),
her daughter Cynthia Anderson, granddaughters Jennifer Prince, Jessica
Prince, and Jillian Hall, and great grandchildren Isabella, Avery, and
Porter. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Dr. Stanley Bates.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 20th, 1PM at Twin Lakes G&CC.
