Cheryl Phylise Thompson, known to some as Charles Phillip Thompson, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 15, 2025, in Santee, California. She was born on October 21, 1943, to Philip "Phil" John-Andrew Thompson and Leona Mae Nelson in Buffalo, Minnesota. After the Navy, she resided in Virginia and California, where she made her home in Santee, Ca.
Charles served as Chief Aviation Electronics Technician in the United States Navy from November 1960 until April 1985, when she was honorably discharged as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following, Cheryl worked for the United States Government as a Senior Logistics Analyst until her full retirement. Cheryl was also an active member of the Fletcher Hills Presbyterian Church for many years.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents: Phil and Leona; and brother, David A. Thompson; friend Gladys "Sunny" Blankenhorn. She is survived by her daughters: Kirsten Chambers (Michael) and Lillian Coates; five grandchildren: Johnnathan Chambers, Aurora Rogerson (Cameron), Kyara Chambers, Daniel Chambers, and Emberly Chambers; one great-grandchild, Flora Chambers; ex-wife, Loretta "Lori" Thompson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
