Charles and Darlene were members of Lake Houston Methodist Church.  They were the Early Service  greeters at the church and Charles was known for his big smiles and hugs.

Charles joined the United States Marine Corps when he was 18 years old.  He served from 1954-1958 in active duty and then from 1958-1962 in the reserves.  He was very proud to be a Veteran.

Charles spent many years as a Construction Superintendent working for Spaw-Glass Builders.  One job, among many he built for them was the Shamu Stadium at Sea World in Orlando, Florida.  He built several other commercial builders during that time.

Charles retired in 1992 and he and Darlene moved to Kingsland, TX  It was then that Charles built their dream Log Home on Lake LBJ.  He started his second career when he and Darlene opened up DJ Construction, specializing in building log homes.  He built a log home that was featured in a Log Home magazine.  Ten years later he retired for the second time and they moved back to Houston, TX  to be closer to their family.

Charles was a very devoted husband, dad and papa to his family.  He was papa to the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He always enjoyed deer hunting and spent a lot of time going to the deer lease with the family.  The family also had a lot of fun visiting  them when they lived on the lake.  Charles was always the boat Captain and of course too many stories to tell.  When children, grandchildren and great grandchildren came along there was no end to the enjoyment.  Loved to cook and entertain and always loved having the families over to eat, swim or just be together.  A Life well lived and a Life very blessed by God.
