Charlotte Suanne “Sue” Mahoney, 83, of Brenham, Texas, passed away at home peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted family.
Born in Navasota, Texas, to Laurence Gordon Wilson and Anna Sophia Wilson, Sue was the older sister and always looked out for her younger sister Dorothy and they were very close. She also served as caregiver for her mother Anna in her later years.
Sue’s career in nursing was both her vocation and her gift. Known for her compassion and integrity, she dedicated many meaningful years to the Brenham State School, where her care left an enduring legacy among colleagues and patients alike and she continued her career in home health care. Whether in the workplace or among loved ones, Sue’s presence was marked by a joyful spirit, sharp wit, and an unmistakable grace that made every moment memorable. Her former patients even remembered her years later when their paths crossed.
She embraced life with enthusiasm—treasuring shopping outings, cherishing the music of Elvis Presley, and loving fiercely the animals who shared her journey, including her loyal poodles, Taffy and Lucy.
A woman of deep faith, Sue was a member of Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Brenham. She also gave generously to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, offering loving support to a cause close to her heart.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Laura Kramer, and son-in-law, Chuck Kramer; her son, Michael Mahoney, and daughter-in-law, Faleen Mahoney. Her legacy lives on through her adored grandchildren—Jason Fay, Danielle Munson, Brittany Fay, Spencer Kramer, Sarah Kramer, Christian Mahoney, Meghan Mahoney, Conner Mahoney, and Darian Hunter—and her four beloved great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Dorothy Gibson; niece and nephews, Lauranne Gibson, Robby Gibson, and David Gibson, and their families; as well as her dear friend, Judy Cable.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Anna Wilson.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 464 Oak Tree Crossing Dr., Brenham, TX. A light lunch and reception will follow the service.
That afternoon on Saturday, August 23, 2025, family and friends are invited to gather at Sue’s home for a special “Celebration of Life,” honoring the joyful woman who gave so much love to so many. Sue’s personal favorite Mexican food dinner will be served at 4:00 p.m. and friends and family are invited to come and go as they wish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring Sue’s love of their work caring for children.
