Christina "Tina" Marie Carter

Christina “Tina” Marie Carter passed away on October 6, 2022 at the age of 69 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Tina was born February 7, 1953 to Patsy Marie Ford Carter and Joe Allen Carter in Houston, Texas. Tina attended school in the Spring Branch area and graduated high school in 1969. Tina remained single her entire life, and though she didn’t have any children of her own, she loved to take care of her nieces and nephews and made her career with the Houston YMCA working with children. Tina and Nickie Cook initiated the very first child care program at the Houston area YMCAs and she became the Child Care Director.

Tina was friendly, she’d talk to anyone who had time to listen. She also loved to read and to travel. After retiring, she went to New Mexico and Colorado with some of her family. She would also take her little dog to visit picturesque lakes and beaches, and joined the YMCA retirees group on most of their trips.

Tina was a dedicated Christian and belonged to the Good News Baptist Church in Katy for many years, teaching, praying and loving on the children and fellow parishioners. They were her extended family.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Clifford Carter. She is survived by her brothers Lawton Carter and wife Ginny, David Allen and wife Linda, Nieces: Nicole and Stacie and Nephews: James, Daren and Jason

Tina’s Celebration of Life service will be held at the Good News Baptist Church 2502 Katy Hockley Cut Off Rd, Katy, TX 77493 on Saturday October 29, 2022 at 11 AM with lunch served afterward in the fellowship hall.
