Clementine Rogers' journey was one of resilience, love, and quiet strength. Born on the Indian Reservation in Belcourt, North Dakota, at a time when the world was changing around her, she faced challenges that would shape the woman she became. Separated from her family at such a young age, she was thrust into the rigid system of Indian schools—an experience no child should ever endure. Yet, at the tender age of 10, she was reunited with her family, and their courage to flee to Portland, Oregon, marked the beginning of a new chapter.
Her years in Portland, marked by education, growth, and new beginnings, brought her to meet the love of her life, an Airman. Though the early years were full of transition—moving around the country with their children, living through the ups and downs of family life—Clementine always carried herself with grace and determination. Even when her marriage ended after eighteen years, she didn’t lose her sense of purpose. She gave herself to others, dedicating time to the Casino Clowns to raise funds for Buckley School, showing her deep commitment to community and family.
When Clementine met Howard Rogers, she found another deep connection, and the two of them shared forty wonderful years together, filled with love, challenges, and memories. Their move to Canada marked yet another new chapter, one filled with warmth and mutual care.
After Howard’s passing, Clementine moved to Blaine, where she was surrounded by her family’s love. Though her physical health challenged her in her later years, her spirit remained indomitable. The caregivers at Stafholt in Blaine became a part of her extended family, and she deeply appreciated their compassion and support. She found solace in the friendships she made, and through it all, her strength and dignity never faltered.
Her family—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—carry with them the lessons she taught them: the importance of family, of perseverance, and of showing kindness to others. To them, Clementine was more than a mother or grandmother—she was a guide, a protector, and a source of unconditional love.
While she may no longer walk among them, her spirit will continue to live on in every cherished memory and in every act of love that her family carries forward. Clementine, you will forever be missed, and your legacy will always be a part of the lives you've touched.
With love and gratitude, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will hold her close in their hearts forever.
