Clifford Sturgon Murphy

Clifford Sturgon Murphy passed away peacefully at home in Niceville FL on the 23rd of December 2022 at the age of 80 after a 4 month battle of infection following surgery for a broken hip. He was born in Denver Colorado on November 5th 1942 and the majority of his life was spent camping, hiking, fishing and of course skiing in the beautiful Colorado mountains. He loved sports and especially loved his Denver Broncos and was lucky enough to attend several games during the glory days of John Elway. He also loved to play sports and was an avid softball and tennis player in his younger years. He also loved to play golf. He moved to Florida in 2002 and quickly adapted to the Florida life style. He loved the water and spent many days on his boat at crab island or just cruising the bay and bayous. He and his wife Sharon were members for several years of the Emerald Coast Parrot Heads Club and made so many wonderful friends while partying with a purpose. Later Cliff enjoyed taking his golf cart to Schooner’s in Bluewater Bay and enjoying friends there.

Clifford worked for over 30 years at Martin Marietta (later Lockheed Martin Aerospace) in Denver Colorado and became the manager of the computer operations center. Before Clifford began his career, he served his country in the US Army for 3 years and traveled to various countries. He was always very proud of his service and enjoyed that time in his life very much.

Cliff was one of the kindest people you could ever meet and never had a harsh word to say about anyone. He was a true friend and gentleman that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Murphy, daughter Susan Sells (Ryan), sons Brian and Kevin Murphy as well as his brother Doug Murphy and sister Gail Smith of Colorado and their families .
