SINGING IN GOD'S CHOIR
Daniel Dee Painter born Nov.24,1930,in Greeley, Colorado, left us after a long battle with Cancer on May30, 2015 to join his daughter Shannon and brother Bud in Heaven. Dan is survived by his loving wife of ten years Catherine. Children Cosetta, Carmen and Danny (Susan) Painter, sister Bonnie (Arlen) Anderson, brother Dick Painter. Grand daughter Duprena (Davin) Crow, Great Grand children Tayla, Carter and Kylie Crow. Plus, since Dan was married several times, there are many step children, Grand children and Great Grand children, not to mention several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Dan served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954 as Mechinist's Mate Third Class, receiving the National Defense Service Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon and China Service Ribbon. While in the Navy, Dan earned his A.A.Degree and Bachelor's Degree in 1954 at the Los Angeles Valley Jr. College. He became a member in the Beta Chapter, of Tau Alpha Epsilon in 1958.
Before joining the Navy, Dan was a Taxi Driver for the Greystone Cab Company in Nampa,Idaho from Dec.1949 to July 1950.
After his time in the service, he went on to raise his family and work at a variety of jobs. From being a member of the Boise,Idaho Sheriff Department, a Bar owner in Idaho to becoming a trucker. He drove all over the United States, which included working on the pipeline in Alaska! I remember him saying he was right up there with God, where He walked on water, Dad drove over the Berring Sea! FYI, it was frozen!
Dan had several interests throughout his life. He spent many years racing Hydro Planes. The family would trailer up the Hydro and off to the races. These went from Ocean Shores, Silver Lake, Spanaway Lake to Eastern Washington and several water ways in between. After Dan retired he went garage, yard, barn and estate sales hunting! But one of his biggest passions was singing. He would do open mic nights with Shotgun Red and many of his buddies. Dan even cut some C.D.'s of his own, along with his sister Bonnie and musician Dave Glenn. Boy could he sing! During holidays with the family, he would start up the Karoke machine and let er' rip!
When Dan's health declined, he went to Hospice House, where he had the utmost of care! They were so very kind and caring, and for this, we thank them with all our hearts! The staff cared for Dad as if he was a member of one of their own families. And a special thank you to Frank Reimey, for being with Dan when his time to go to Heaven came. We would also like to thank Pastor Ricky Lowe for his visits and kind words to Dad.
A Celebration of Dan's life will be held on July 11, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mt. Highway Baptist Church, 24621 36th Ave. Ct. East in Spanaway, Washington.
