Darrell David Abbey

Darrell David Abbey was born on January 27, 1947 in Caldwell, Idaho to parents Elsie Carper and David Abbey, who preceded him in death. He grew up in a large loving family with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Darrell joined the Army as a baker in 1966, where he served proudly until his honorable discharge. During this time Darrell welcomed his first daughter, Deanna (Abbey) Christensen, into the world with his wife Gale Macintosh, who preceded him in death.

Darrell moved to Richland, Washington with Deanna after the passing of his wife where he met and married Vivian Abbey on March 4, 1969. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa where they welcomed their second daughter, Traci Abbey, February 1, 1970. Shortly after, they moved and settled into their forever home in Lynnwood, Washington. Darrell continued his baking career as a baking instructor at Lake Washington Technical College for 21 years before switching careers to a Comcast educator until he retired in 2014.

Darrell was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic and an avid joke teller in his free time. He was above all else a family man, followed very closely by storyteller. You never knew what little pun he had just waiting for the conversation, but you knew there would be one followed by that smile and laugh that we loved so much. He loved his wife and his family with every fiber of his being and was never hesitant to let the world know.

Darrell is survived by his wife Vivian Abbey of 49 years, his two daughters, Deanna Christensen and Traci Abbey, three granddaughters, Ashlee Johnson, Chanel Christensen, and Samantha Christensen, four great-grandchildren, Errin Johnson, Ayva Johnson, Parker Miklethun, Easton Miklethun, three sisters, Janice Hinton, Phonda Gusman, and Linda Cone. Darrell's two brothers Merritt Abbey and Larry Abbey preceded him in death.

As a military veteran, Darrell's remains will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetary in Kent, Washington with a visitation plaque to commemorate his life.
