David Kenneth Bohegian

July 21, 1954 — April 14, 2024

Nevada City

David (Dave) Kenneth Bohegian was born to Ken Bohegian (1924-2010) & Isabel Bohegian (1921-1995) on July 21, 1954 in San Francisco, California. He died on Sunday April 14, 2024 in Rancho Mirage, California after suffering a sudden massive hemorrhagic stroke on the morning of April 13th in the first 20 minutes of a Pickleball tournament. He died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones including his wife of 36 years Pavana (Donna) Bohegian, sister Susan Bohegian, daughter Alister Bohegian, son Zak Bohegian, and Zak's fiancé Shelby Turner. His stepson Christopher Pegeron was with us in spirit and connected via phone.

Dave died doing what he loved in a place that he loved. He and Pavana spent the last several winters playing pickleball and soaking up the warmth of Palm Desert where they had purchased a condominium four months prior to his death. Dave & Pavana both have backgrounds in real estate appraisal and over the years, designed and rebuilt several homes transforming basic living spaces into beautiful family homes. The Palm Desert condo was no different. His bedroom was painted in shades of gold with bedding to match and art to complement.

Dave also had a lifelong love affair with skiing and loved pickleball, hiking, biking, and golf. He and Pavana traveled the world together visiting Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England. In the past couple years, they ventured to Zihuantanejo, Mexico for a Pickleball camp and the British Virgin Islands for a relaxing tropical vacation on a bareboat charter with private captain and six close friends. He referred to the island vacation as the best of his life.

Dave was devoted to his family and took pride and honor in serving his community wherever he was. He was a volunteer coach for countless Marin County sports teams for his children including soccer, baseball and tennis. Later in life, he became a passionate advocate and the board president for The Young Men’s Ultimate Weekend, helping young men to initiate into manhood through Rites of Passage weekends. He also served on the Planning Commission for Nevada City, California.

He was a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and was one of two founding partners for Martorana Bohegian & Company, a real estate appraisal & property tax consulting firm in San Francisco, for over 40 years. His reputation in the appraisal industry was impeccable and he was well known for being a competent and fair businessman.

All who knew Dave feel a loss and emptiness that will take time to heal. He is survived by his wife Pavana and daughter Alister who will continue to live in the family home in Nevada City, son Zak who will marry Shelby this June in San Diego, stepson Christopher who lives in St. Helena, and his one and only sister Suzy who lives in the family home in San Francisco.
