David Hunter Green

David Hunter Green, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and two children.

Born on August 9, 1952, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Jack and Josephine Green, David lived a life filled with laughter, love, sometimes shenanigans, but always fun.

David graduated from Westlake High School in Westlake, Louisiana, where he was a member of the golf team and played tuba in the marching band. He later embarked on a successful life-long career in the petrochemical industry. As a young man, he worked on and off-shore, in and around the gulf coast region as a welder, pipe fitter, and safety inspector before hiring on as an operator with Chevron-Phillips Cedar Bayou in Baytown, Texas. He ended his career in West Texas as a natural gas pipeline inspector. David’s dedication, ingenuity, and expertise were instrumental in his professional achievements.

Beyond his career, David had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and traveling, and always found joy in exploring new places and sharing his adventures with loved ones. David was known for his infectious laughter, his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vaundina Ward Green; their two children, Karie Lavone Green and United States Air Force Colonel Jason Hunter Green; his father, Jack Green; his sisters, Lavone Fryar and Melinda Keracik; and his six cherished grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Texans on Mission Disaster Relief at texansonmission.org.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We’ll remember his favorite catchphrases like, “standby,” and, “this is Daddy, go-ahead,” and his handle “Blue,” the nickname he gave almost everyone else. He is with Jesus, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

We love you, Daddy Rabbit.
