David Leroy Wooters March 23, 1944 – December 18, 2025
David Leroy Wooters, 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. Born on March 23, 1944, in Chester, Pennsylvania, David grew up in Chester and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, graduating from Cherry Hill High School West.
David dedicated his life to building. He spent most of his career in construction, most notably as a home builder, creating beautiful spaces for families to enjoy. His craftsmanship and love for his work were evident in every project he touched.
An avid golfer, David cherished golf vacations and the thrill of exploring new courses. He also enjoyed fishing, once immortalized in a painting casting his line off the coast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. His passions extended to simple joys—being the first to walk through fresh snow, caring for beloved pets, and sharing laughter with family and friends. Known for his infectious humor, David often told children he lost his right thumb from “too much thumb-sucking,” a playful twist on a construction accident.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva Worrick; his brother, Fred Wooters; and his sister, Edna Wooters. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, JoAnn; his sister, Carole Keaton; his sons, Scott (Rebecca) and Steve (Wendy) Wooters; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexandria, Nicolaas, Faith, and Georgia Wooters. His family was his greatest joy, and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth and humor touched all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collin County Animal Services, honoring David’s lifelong love for animals.
