Deirdre Yolande Carrubba, known affectionately as DeDe, was born on August 25, 1957, in Franklin, Indiana, and peacefully passed away on March 20, 2024, at her home in Houston, Texas. She left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Deirdre's journey through life was marked by resilience and dedication. She embarked on a fulfilling career path, spending the majority of her working years at investment brokerage firms. Later in her career, she transitioned to work as an analyst at Shell Oil before eventually retiring in 2010. Her commitment to excellence and unwavering work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers.
Throughout her life, Deirdre was characterized by her warm smile that seemed to light up every photograph she was in. Her humble and down-to-earth nature endeared her to all who crossed her path. Despite her private side, Deirdre had a gift for making friends effortlessly and radiated love towards everyone she met. She was a pillar of support for her family and friends, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer a comforting presence.
One of Deirdre's proudest accomplishments was raising her beloved son Paul. She poured her heart and soul into motherhood, ensuring that Paul grew up surrounded by love and guidance. In addition to being an exceptional mother, Deirdre also selflessly cared for both of her parents during their times of need with unwavering devotion.
Deirdre's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. She took immense pleasure in savoring delicious meals, particularly relishing BBQ, chicken fried steak, shrimp, bacon cheeseburgers, and Connies Frozen Custard. However, during her illness, it deeply pained her that she couldn't indulge in favorite dishes any longer. In moments of leisure, Deirdre found joy in going out with close friends, taking a good nap, traveling to her favorite resort in Mexico, playing games on her iPad, watching HGTV, The Hallmark Channel and Forensic Files. DeDe also loved a good storm and would be excited to call friends when one was one its way. And speaking of the weather, she was also known to spend many rainy Sundays watching "The Godfather".
In the face of adversity, Deirdre showed tremendous courage as she fought a ten-month battle against a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with grace and resilience. Her strength inspired those around her and showcased the depth of her spirit.
Deirdre is survived by her loving husband Ron Carrubba; devoted son Paul Carrubba and wife Jessi; supportive sisters Terri Reinhardt (husband John), Vicki Franklin (husband Mark), Julie Reagan (husband Berkley); brother John Letourneau (wife Tammy); along with numerous other relatives and close friends who will continue to cherish DeDe's memory.
DeDe's life may have come to an end, but the impact she made during her time on this earth will live on eternally touching the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her kindness and warmth will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
DeDe's remains will be laid to rest in a private Rite of Christian Burial on May 11th at 10:30 AM at the historic Perry Cemetery on Grant Rd, Houston TX
Rest peacefully, DeDe - your legacy of love lives on in our hearts forever.
