Dennis Fred Stefani passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2025, at the age of 78.
He was born on January 13, 1947, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Fred and Laura (Nordhausen) Stefani. Dennis grew up in Canby, Oregon, where he graduated from high school in 1965. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Oregon State University.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Cheri; their two children and their spouses; and four beloved granddaughters. He was exceptionally close to his family, and they shared countless joyful holidays, birthdays, and gatherings over the years—moments filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
After college, Dennis began his career at Texaco Oil, where he worked for 18 months before joining the newly formed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), contributing during its formative years for 11 years. He later held positions at Chempro, Environmental Resource Management, and two consulting firms, building a respected career in environmental engineering and management.
Beyond his professional life, Dennis was known for his varied passions. Some may remember him as the dedicated team roper for several years or the avid fly fisherman who spent many happy days on the water. But what he was perhaps most proud of was his deep commitment to education. He volunteered for several years in the Riverview School District and was later appointed to the founding Board of Directors for Cascadia Community College, where he served with distinction for 10 years, helping shape the institution from its earliest days.
Dennis and Cheri cherished their travels together, exploring Europe as well as many beautiful places across the United States and Canada.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a dedicated professional; and a generous community servant whose quiet devotion to family, learning, and the outdoors touched many lives.
