Donald R. Groux, 86 years of age, peacefully passed away at home on January 1, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.
Don was born January 29, 1936 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Fredrick C. and Hazel Wagenheim Groux. He graduated Martins Ferry High School and West Liberty College; and was a member of the U.S. Army. Throughout his career he held various management positions in the apparel industry. After retirement, Don along with his brother Fred, owned and operated the Keg und Kraut German restaurant in Wheeling, WV.
Don was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. He had a heart of gold and was admired and respected by all that knew him. He enjoyed spending time with family, was a master at the grill, loved cheering on Ohio State football and sampling a fine whiskey. His favorite vacation destination was Destin, FL where he and his family made many cherished memories.
Don is survived by his wife Kathryn Schrecongost Groux, and his blended family, a daughter Michelle Groux of Columbus, Ohio. James(Michelle)Little of Magnolia,TX, Joseph(Becky)Little of Madison,MS and Deborah(James)Shade of Magnolia,TX. He will be missed by his grandchildren Audrey Groux, Forest Little, Sierra Little, Savannah Little, Melba Little, Mark Little and Katelyn Fair. He is also survived by a cousin, Marcie Jane (Jerry) Strentz of Kellar, TX.
Don was a member of the Osiris Shrine Legion of Honor in Wheeling, WV; the Shadyside Masonic Lodge No.724 F&AM; the Valley of Steubenville Scottish Rite; and the Royal Order of Jesters Wheeling, WV.
A private celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date at the Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children(https://lovetotherescue.org).
