Donald Lee Harmon

Donald L. Harmon, age 88 of Lecanto, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2026 with his wife Barbara Harmon of 50 years in the comfort of his home. Don, as he was called, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the seventh of ten children to the late Benjamin and Nancy Harmon. Six of his siblings have preceded him in death. Don is the father to one son and the stepfather to two children, as well as the Pa-Pa to nine grandchildren. He retired from General Motors (GM) after the Norwood Assembly Plant was closed in 1987. During his time at GM, he did join the Marine Corps for four years from 1960 to 1964.

Don and Barb have lived in Citrus County since 1997. He loved golfing, until his knees no longer loved him golfing. Don was an active volunteer in the community. Shortly after moving to Citrus County, Don became a volunteer as a Public Service Officer for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, doing both road patrol and marine patrol. In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, he was involved in the Neighborhood Watch Program. He was always helping his wife Barb with all of her volunteer work as well. He could be found at the Citrus County Senior Center helping with the gift shop or visiting other people in need. He enjoyed working in his yard and feeding the animals visiting him there.

Smart Cremation is assisting the family. Burial is being arranged at a later date at the Veterans Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
