Donald Eugene Lytle, 92, of North Port, Florida, passed away on June 12, 2025.
He was born April 3, 1933 in Brant Township, near Chesaning, Michigan to Clayton Lytle and Louise Schock. Don met Jan in 1950 where Jan was the lead in their Highschool play and Don was kind enough to drive her back and forth. The Highschool sweethearts married in 1953 in Chesaning, MI and he remained a loving husband to Janice for 72 years.
Don worked for LE Myers construction company before going into the army in 1953, approximately one month after their wedding day. Don was honorably discharged from the United Stated Army in 1955 and they moved to Owosso, MI where their son Scott was born in 1956. In 1958 Don and Jan moved to Jackson, MI where their son Brent and daughter Lynae were born. Don began his career in Land and Right Away and worked at Consumers Energy in Jackson, MI for 35 years. With an incredible engineering and drafting background Don could build anything - He enjoyed woodworking and loved to golf, fish, bowl. Faith was a constant in Don’s life and the church was extremely important to him. Always wearing a smile, he enjoyed telling stories and making his children and grandchildren laugh with his antics.
Don and Jan lost their son Scott to cancer in 1989. He is survived by his wife Janice, son Brent Lytle, daughter Lynae Lytle-Arehart, four grandchildren (Taylor Arehart, Halle Arehart, Cortney Lytle-Pulley, Nicholas Lytle) and two great grand children (Gracin Pulley and Beckham Pulley). We will be honoring Don during the 10:00am church service on Sunday June 15th at North Port Community United Church of Christ, 3450 South Biscayne Drive, North Port, FL 34287. A celebration of life will be planned this fall in Jackson, MI.
