Donald Matthew White passed from this life on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the age of 82 after losing his battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by loved ones at his home in Wylie, Texas. Don was born in his beloved city of Muskogee, Oklahoma on September 21, 1940. He spent his early years in Muskogee until he joined the Navy in 1959 and after serving his time, he stayed in California.
While living in Torrance, California Don met the love of his life, Betty Wilkes, who happened to be an “Okie” as well. They were joined in marriage on August 31, 1968. What a wonderful life they have shared together. In 1972, they welcomed their first child, Matthew White. They decided they wanted to get closer to family so they moved from California to Texas in 1973 where they made their permanent residence. In 1978, they welcomed another bundle of joy, Jacob White. Don was very active with his children as they grew through life. Sports, boating, traveling and camping were their favorite things to do as a family.
Don is survived by his wife of 54+ years, Betty and his sons Matthew and Jacob, and his very special granddaughter Hailey; many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, his lifelong friend/brother from Muskogee, Mickey Drake and his wife Jill as well as many friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Clarence White and Delma Simpson, three brothers Bill, Gene and Robert as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Don was a man that didn’t require anything fancy so we will have a “Come and Go Visitation” in his honor Saturday, May 6 from 2-4p at The Christian Life Center, 601 E. Main, Richardson, 75081. It will be a casual event filled with our love for the man that made our life worth living.
In lieu of flowers, we request memorials for Don be made to Leukemia Research at UT Southwestern-Attn: Michele Myers, Director of Development Research.
