Donna Jean Evans, affectionately known as "Gypsy" by friends and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on July 16, 2025, at TRIOS Medical Center in Kennewick, Washington, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Tonasket, Washington, Donna was the eldest of six daughters raised in Oroville, where she developed a deep love for music, nature, and learning. She earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Washington State University and devoted her life to teaching and sharing music with others—first in public schools and later through private lessons, church leadership, and community programs.
Donna was a lifelong educator, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, crafter, gardener, and musician. Whether crocheting a nativity, teaching piano to her grandchildren, or singing around a campfire, she brought creativity and warmth to all she did. Her home was filled with laughter, song, and the love of family.
She is survived by her children David (Kimberly), Deborah (Jason), and DeAnna; and her grandchildren Blake, Felicity, and Temprance. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Jean Thorndike, and her husband, Jonathan Evans. She is also survived by her five sisters and many extended family members and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Kennewick Nazarene Church, 2402 S Union St, Kennewick, WA. All are welcome to attend and share memories.
