Donna's life was a testament to love, faith, and generosity.
Donna Joann Howey, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026. Born on December 15, 1940, in Newton, Iowa, to Verle and Ora Lawrence, Donna graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, IL, and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
In 1960, she wed Robert Alan Howey, sharing a remarkable 62-year journey until his passing in 2022. Introduced by their mothers in Chicago IL, their lives were beautifully intertwined, marked by deep love and shared dreams. Together, they raised three children and eventually made their home in the suburbs. Donna's professional life was spent largely in the travel industry, working for airlines and later owning a travel agency. In 1985, she and Bob relocated to Southern California, spent time in Northern California, and finally settled in Corona, CA. Just weeks before her passing, she moved to Utah to live with her eldest daughter.
A devoted Christian, Donna's life was a testament to love, faith, and generosity. She was an active member of Florence Avenue Foursquare Church in Santa Fe Springs and later the New Beginnings Church in Norco, CA. Her faith was profound, expressed through her involvement in administration, childcare, and ministries supporting those in need. Despite having little herself, she opened her heart and home to those less fortunate. Her family and friends brought her the greatest joy, especially her eight beloved grandchildren.
Donna's memory will be a warm embrace of faith, family, and compassion. Her love and kindness touched many lives and will be cherished forever.
She is survived by her three children and her eight grandchildren
I am sending you my deepest condolences. I have had the pleasure of knowing your mother for a long time, but I really got to know her over the past year and a half. I started visiting her as part of the healing visitation ministry I am part of. I was sent to help her but in reality she helped me. I looked forward to visiting her every other week and hearing her laugh. She had such a lovely spirit. She loved sharing about her family and how proud she was in how well you all turned out. I would love to sit and listen to her talk about how good and faithful God is, even when she was in the hospital she lived with a good attitude. She never waivered in her faith. Your mother was a fighter, she was strong and loving. Even when battling cancer she was strong. She was a prayer warrior and humble. She was also very generous in supporting me whether it was to feed the homeless or making sweaters for you all. I am very blessed to have had the pleasure of calling her my friend. Rest assured she is in heaven healed and whole in the loving arms of Jesus. I’m sure her welcome home party was a celebration of beauty. I see her dressed in a pink satin gown. She will be deeply missed. She was like a tree planted by rivers of water, that bring fourth it’s fruit in it’s season, where leaf also shall not wither and whatever she did prospered. psalms 1:3
