Edgar was born on February 13, 1938 and passed away on March 12, 2020. Edgar was a resident of Rialto, CA. On February 13, 1938 a son was born to the union of the late Edgar Lee Gater Sr. and Lenora Gater in Oxford, Mississippi. Edgar was the fourth of five siblings born to this union. Edgar was a talented, loving, and hard worker. Edgar received his education from the Alton School District of Alton, Illinois. Edgar received the Lord at a young age, and rededicated his life to the Lord in 1969. He attended Berean Bible Church in Duarte, CA. Edgar met Mildred Juliet Brown in 1957 in Alton, Illinois. They fell in love at first sight and became inseparable after a short courtship. Edgar asked Mildred for her hand in marriage. On June 20, 1959 they were united in holy matrimony in Alton, Illinois. After seeking a better life they moved to California where Edgar gained employment at Simpson Paper in Pomona, CA where he later retired after many years. Edgar and Mildred were blessed with three wonderful children. They raised their three children in Duarte, CA and later moved to Rialto, Ca in 1986. He later united with Sunrise Church in Rialto, CA under Pastor Jay Pankratz. Later under Pastor Steve Garcia. Late Thursday night, March 12, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm at Fontana Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, CA, the Lord called Edgar to the Golden Gates of Heaven to live forever in His presence with his beautiful daughter Stephanie R. Darden (Gater). Edgar leaves behind a lot of wonderful memories for his family to cherish. He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife Mildred Gater; two children Janice Gater (Niecy) and Catherine Green (Monique); Stephanie Darden (preceded him in death); two son in laws Steve Darden and Damaris Green; six grandchildren Paris Burden, Stevi Darden (Darius Carter), Dallas Darden (Kayla Darden), Nicholas Johnson, Michael & Mya Green; one greatgrandson Apollo Burden; one, brother Henry Gater (Karen Gater) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
