Edith Ann Feehan, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on August 22, 1946, in New York City, New York, Edie lived a life filled with joy, faith, and deep devotion to her family and community.
A woman of unwavering Catholic faith, Edie’s spiritual journey began early. As a kindergartener at St. Pascal Baylon in St. Albans, NY, she had the honor of crowning the Blessed Mother on May 1st—a cherished memory that marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to her beliefs. Her dedication culminated in becoming an Associate of the Sisters of Divine Providence, a role that reflected her deep compassion and desire to serve others.
Edie was a vibrant presence in every room she entered. She loved music and theater and found great joy in attending plays. She delighted in simple pleasures like coloring and doing puzzles and always looked forward to having her nails done—an activity that brought her both relaxation and happiness.
Her zest for life extended far beyond her hometown. A passionate traveler, Edie explored Europe twice, cruised through the Caribbean and Ireland, and journeyed across the United States. One of her most treasured trips was to County Mayo in Ireland, where she visited the birthplace of her grandfather Richard Hyacinth Feehan. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and especially loved showing off her shillelagh.
Edie’s heart was as expansive as her travels. She participated in Special Olympics bowling events and once walked a Fun Run to raise awareness for sudden cardiac death—testaments to her spirit of inclusion and advocacy.
Family was everything to Edie. She remembered every birthday, wedding anniversary, and special accomplishment with genuine enthusiasm and love. Her warmth touched generations within her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Anmarie Feehan Pfeifer and husband Jeffrey; niece Emily Pfeifer Shanley with husband Captain Timothy Shanley and their nine children: Tim, Louisa, John, Pfeif, Richard, Gerard, Catie, Stephen, and Ryan; nephew Captain Theron Pfeifer with wife Shannan and their children Heidi and Townes; sister Susan Feehan Sanborn with husband Glen Sanborn; their son Patrick Sanborn with wife Marisa and daughter Isabella, Katrina Sanborn Kupfer, with husband Andy, niece Lacey, nephews Tyler and Austin.
