Edward Allen Cox

Edward Allen Cox Jr. of Monroe, WA went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 14, 2017, after a long struggle with cancer. His wife, Christine Lynn (Eells) Cox was at his side during the final moments of his life. Ed was born in Seattle, WA on Feb. 8, 1941 to parents Edward Allen Cox Sr. and Marilyn Mae (Shores) Cox. He was raised in Seattle and attended Lincoln High School, then joined the United States Navy, where he served in Long Beach and San Diego, CA from 1959-1962. 1972 was a significant year for Ed. It was then that he met his wife, Chris, as well as his God. He accepted Jesus as his Savior, and lived a life that reflected his faith in all that he did. Ed owned a successful business, Lakeridge Insurance Services in Redmond, WA for 30 years. During these years he and Chris raised their family in Kirkland and North Bend. Ed was active in the Redmond Kiwanis, coached many youth sports, including basketball, soccer, and little league baseball and softball. Ed retired in 2001, and the couple moved to Desert Aire, WA in 2005. Shortly after, Ed was diagnosed with cancer, and fought hard for 12 years before his death. The following was written by Ed's daughter, Rebekah Christine (Cox) Springer, shortly before his death. " A long time ago, there was a little girl who was full and spunk and spirit with crazy, wild red hair. Her Dad showed her that there was a world wide open out there and taught her that she could be anything she wanted to be! He encouraged her, loved her and supported every dream! The kind of Dad who coached softball, was PTA president, taught her to fish and camp, but took her shopping for makeup and prom dresses. He high-fived her when she got in a fist fight because he always had her back and she knew he would walk through fire for her. He may not be able to talk today while she sat on his bed and shared stories and memories...but the 'I love you' he gave her in sign language before he drifted off to sleep again tonight said more than words ever could. We should all be so loved. "
Ed was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, his three daughters, Tamara Lynn (Cox) Bedi, Jennifer Ann (Cox) Running (David), Rebekah Christine (Cox) Springer (Joseph), and his son Edward Allen Cox III (Angela), a sister, Merrilie Ann (Cox) Roark, a brother, George Richard Cox (Kathy), 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on May 6, 2017, 1 pm at Cascade Church in Monroe, WA.
