Ella Vyan Chambers, 74, of Puyallup, Washington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6th, at an adult family home where she was lovingly cared for in her final days. Born on January 14, 1947 in rural Cotton County, Oklahoma to Clemmie and Faye Abbe. She lived in Oklahoma and Texas in her youth and moved to Washington State when she married James Chambers. She lived the rest of her life in Federal Way, Tacoma, Auburn, and Puyallup.
Ella graduated from Temple High School in Temple, Oklahoma. She moved to New York City and did modeling for a few years before moving back to Dallas, Texas. Ella met her husband, James, while working as a civilian at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. She worked in office administration in Tacoma, Washington for most of her life.
Ella was generous, hard-working, fiercely loyal, of quick wit, and loved her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to garage sales and antique stores, watching British sitcoms and police dramas, going out to dinner with family, reading mystery fiction novels, and cuddling with her dogs. She always treasured her visits with her siblings and their families back home in Oklahoma and Texas.
Ella is survived by her sisters, Mary and Carla (husband Jerry), daughter Christine (husband Jeremy), grandson Daniel, and other extended family and friends. Ella was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to all.
