Elmer (M) Brown Jr. (Butch), was born in Morgantown, West Virginia October 3rd, 1946 to Elmer and Lillian Brown. He served in the US Navy from July, 1964 to August 1967 as a Medical Corpsman in Vietnam. He was recalled back to service in 1970 to February 1974. Remaining in the medical field, Butch was hired by the California Department of Corrections as a Medical Technician, Correctional Officer. Part of his duties included teaching weapons to other Correction Officers. He married Margaret Ellen Kennedy, a local Nurse Practioner, in April, 1974. They also owned and operated Venture Farms Saddle and Leather Emporium in Phelan. They had no biological children, but adopted Errol Lee Niedert from an early age. He was a life long resident of the High Desert. He enjoyed prospecting, and had many furry and feathered friends, including one special raven he named Soul Chicken. He was a firearms enthusiast, belonging to the Apple Valley Gun Cub, and enjoyed shooting and sharing his knowledge. He is survived by his loving wife, of 50 years, Margaret, his son Errol Lee(Tammy) Niedert and their daughters Linzy and Abby. Long time friends Richard Alessi and Virgil Ervin.
