Elvina Ahearn of Auburn, Washington passed away March 4, 2021. Elva was born in Colfax, Saskatchewan on December 27, 1935 to the late Clarence Franklin Essex and Nellie (Kew) Essex. Elva graduated from North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Washington in 1954. She married Gerald (Jerry) Ahearn, of Bremerton, Washington on April 13, 1957. Elva loved to sing and had a beautiful soprano voice. She began singing in church as a child and was a soloist through high school. Elva enjoyed singing with the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society at the Seattle Center Playhouse, and the Seattle Chorale, but what she loved most is worship and singing in her church choirs, which she did throughout her whole life. In the 1980s she and Jerry went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Boeing. While there Elva found work at the American Community Services Center, United States Embassy, Saudi Arabia, where everyone came to know her as the "Gold Lady", with her sparkly jewelry, glasses and her beautiful smile! During their years in Saudi Arabia Elva and Jerry enjoyed world travel visiting over thirty-five countries. Later they were snowbirds at Tower Point Resort in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the sunny pool weather and baseball spring training. Surviving Elva is her sister Marjorie Shields, her three children Ronda (Richard) Earenfight, Randal (Kelley) Ahearn, and Robyn Ahearn. Elva was beloved "Gigi" to her seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. A private memorial will be held summer 2021.
