Emilia Lucille Davies, after celebrating her 89th birthday on June 4, went Home Monday morning, August 22, 2016, to join her infant daughter, Bernadine Delores Garcia, and her granddaughter, Michel S Hoefling. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David R Davies, daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Ernest Spelger, great-grandchildren, Chelsea Michelle Spelger, Evan Spelger York, Bon Spelger Hoefling, her younger sister, Helen Torres who is the last remaining Archuleta sibling, sisters-in-law, Mrs. Leo Archuleta, Mrs. Joseph Labadie Archuleta, David's sisters, Beebe McFadden, spouse Bob, Judy Bruggeman, spouse Earl, innumerable relatives, god children and friends.
Emilia was named after her maternal grandmother and Patron Saint Emily de Rodat. This French Saint was known to be headstrong and extremely prayerful which could easily be said of our matriarch. She was born in Mora, New Mexico, the tenth of twelve children to Jose De La Cruz Labadie Archuleta and Odila Clara Archuleta. She lived in Seattle, Washington for 72 years moving to her daughter's home in Snohomish County the last weeks of her life. Such a loving Wife, Mother and Nana, she cared for all of her "children" through their childhood and helped care for Michel in her cancer struggle. It was a privilege for her family to care for her in her final months. She struggled mightily, though unsuccessfully, to get out of her bed as her whole life has been one of busy industry.
She was a long time member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Seattle, serving as a Eucharistic minister, driving others to Mass and volunteering in so many other ways. It was a blessing to have Rev. Bryan Dolejsi, from St. Ben's, administer the anointing of the sick in her final month of life.
