Evelyn Grider Hetherington formerly of Clarkston, WA, passed away peacefully April 3, 2018 at Sullivan Park Care Center, Spokane, WA where she was a resident.
Evelyn was born February 22, 1929 in Lewiston, ID. The daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Rooke) Franklin, she married Clyde A. Grider at St. Maries, ID January 31, 1948. They later divorced. She married Joseph Hetherington in 1977. She attended school in Kamiah, ID and received her GED in 1967, and continued her education at Walla Walla Community College receiving her LPN Diploma in 1972. She worked at Tri-State Hospital and Rest Haven in Clarkston. She lived in Avery, ID before moving to Clarkston around 1953, where she worked at Tom Smith's Nut Shop and Highland Grocery before her nursing career. She resided in Clarkston where she raised her family. She is survived by her son Ray Grider of Spokane, WA and two daughters Pat Hanson of Spokane, WA and Jan (Rick) Conner of Falmouth, KY. Two sons preceded her in death Clyde A. Grider III (Alan) and Thomas Grider. Her sister Lila Maxine also preceded her in death at the tender age of one. She was a loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren and numerous great and great, grandchildren.
Evelyn enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and made numerous hand crocheted bedspreads and quilts.
