Felix Rodriguez Cortez, Jr., born November 4, 1944, entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family as he passed into the arms of our Lord.Felix was a man of deep faith, devotion, and service. He graduated from the University of North Texas in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country for 30 years in the United States military, and was a Vietnam Veteran, carrying with him a lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and country.

Felix continued his dedication to others as a campus security officer for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Beloved by countless high school students, he was known for his steady presence, warm smile, and genuine concern for every young person he encountered.

Faith and community were central to Felix’s life. As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5052 for 30 years — and a Fourth Degree Knight at the time of his passing — he lived out the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. He also devoted more than two decades to the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant scoutmaster, continuing to lead and mentor even after both of his sons completed the program. His influence shaped the lives of many young men who carry his lessons forward.

Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Rodriguez Cortez, Sr., and Betty Jean Helt Cortez, and by his cousin, Patria Mychals.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gloria Ramirez Cortez; his children, Stephen Cortez and wife Rebecca, Catherine Cortez-Keith and husband Scott, and David Cortez and wife Francel; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #5052, honoring Felix’s lifelong commitment to service and faith.
