Fred A. Ghio, of Blanchard, Idaho, entered the gates of heaven on October 2, 2017. Fred was born on April 5, 1937 to Fred and Kitty Ghio in San Pedro, CA. He attended school in the Los Angeles area and following graduation from High School he served 4 years with the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman from 1956-1960. He then attended Los Angeles State College earning a B.S. degree in 1966. He spent 3 years with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), the precursor to what is now known as NCIS, in Long Beach, CA. In 1970 he transferred to the United States Customs Service as a Special Agent and spent a majority of his career working money laundering and drug cases. His last few years were spent as the Resident Agent in Charge of all Customs investigations in Orange County, CA. He retired in 1992 to Blanchard, Idaho where he and his wife spent the summers golfing when not traveling in the U.S. and abroad. He became an avid cowboy shooter in both Idaho and in Arizona where he and his wife spent the winters. He may not have always been the best shot but he was indeed the best dressed cowboy out there. He was well respected by all who knew him and he will be missed not only by his family and many friends but by all those cowboy shooters, golfers and pickelballers whom he came into contact with. Fred was predeceased by his son Lee Ghio in 2002 and is survived by his wife of 54 years H. Thayle Ghio of Blanchard, Idaho and his daughter Adra Pittman (John) of San Pedro, California. He will be interred at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona on November 13, 2017 at 11:00 am. A life well lived. Well Done Fred!
