February 18, 1929 — August 25, 2016

Frederick Motta

Frederick Motta, was born February 18th 1929, in Taunton Massachusetts to Manual Motta and Virginia (Vieira) Motta. He was 87 when he passed away Thursday, August 25th, 2016 in Carlsbad California after a long battle with cancer. Fred, a devoted Catholic, is now at peace with his Lord and Savior.

Fred worked as a grocery supervisor at Alpha Beta for over 35 years before retiring in 1994.

To say Fred was special and unforgettable is an understatement. Fred enjoyed a variety of pastimes including horseshoes, bingo, pinochle, cribbage, singing karaoke, playing the lottery, and trading at the local swap meet. He loved the warm weather and spending time with friends and was affectionately known as "Freddie". But most of all he considered family his greatest blessing.

Fred was extremely outgoing and will best be remembered as having never met a stranger. He loved "shooting the breeze" for hours at a time. He always went out of his way to stop and talk to anyone that crossed his path. Talking to Fred was like talking to someone you had known for many years.

Fred leaves behind a lot of friends and family who admired and respected him. He is already missed by so many that loved him.

Loving family members include; son Jeffery Motta; daughter Julie McCartt and son-in-law Mark; son James Motta and daughter-in-law Charlene; brother John Motta; five grandchildren Christopher, Jason, Steven, Joshua, Lindsey; two great-granddaughters Riley and Madison; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois and sisters Tina and Madeline.

Fred will be sadly missed. Gone but never forgotten!!
