Gala Ann Canada

A memorial service for Gala Ann Canada (née Grau), 81, of Lufkin, will be held at the Angelina church of Christ, 2213 Tulane Drive, Lufkin, on Saturday August 8th at 11am.

Gala was diagnosed 8 weeks ago with metastatic pancreatic cancer. She took her last breath with her daughters by her side on the morning of July 27th, 2026. Knowing she will spend eternity with our Heavenly Father is a comfort to her family.

Gala Ann Canada (née Grau) was born in Antonio, grew up in the Aldine area of Houston, married her beloved husband, Ulas Lynn Canada, on February 14th, 1964. Together they traveled the world with his military career for 25 years.

She attended The Trenton State University in New Jersey earning her B.A. in education, and Stephen F. Austin University where she earned an M.A. in education administration.

She taught in the Diboll ISD, was Coordinator of Special Education at Central ISD, and taught education courses at Angelina County College.

Gala loved the Lord fiercely and enjoyed serving at congregations she worshipped at during her years of travel and most recently at Angelina church of Christ.

She leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea & Chuck Olley, of Galloway, NJ; Jennifer & Batsill Tipton, of Lufkin; her five grandsons- Zack Olley and his wife Eve, of Brandon, VT; Wesley Olley and his wife Leah, of Detroit, MI; Clay Olley and his wife Mary Kate, of Nashville, TN; 1st. Lt. Luke Olley, of Mililani, HI; Austin Williams, of Rockwall, TX. She will be fondly remembered by a large extended family, close friends, and countless others whose lives she touched.

She is predeceased by her parents and husband.
