Gary Lee Mader, 77, passed away on April 7, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1949, in Garden City, Kansas, to James and Charlene Mader.

Gary spent most of his life in Phoenix, Arizona, where he built a life centered around horsemanship, hard work, and the values he carried with him throughout the years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before ultimately building a 30-year career with the Arizona Department of Racing, where he worked as an identifier.

Gary was a true cowboy at heart, known for his deep love of horses and dogs. He found joy in the simple things and was admired for his strong spirit and enduring character.

He is survived by his daughter, Tissha, along with her six children; his son, Miles Mader and his wife Julia; his son, Zane Mader and his wife, Emily; his grandchildren, Preslee and Harlee Mader. He is also survived by his sisters, Pam Del Campo, Jodie Kinney, Deb Pickett, and Sandy Ardery, and his brother, Rick Mader.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Charlene Mader, and his brother, Doug Mader.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends.
