Gary Murphy of Lake City Florida passed on September 19, 2026 peacefully under the care of Haven Hospice. Gary was born April 6, in Hartford CT to Charles and Lillian Murphy.

He is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Berni and his children: Tracy (Jeff), Daniel ( Shannon), Cathy (CJ), Bob (Fran) , his grandchildren: Anthony, Michael, April, Liam, Ryan, Kenneth, Vincent, Duncan, Eric, and Marshall and his great grandchildren: Ava, Kyron and Asher.

He is also survived by siblings: Colleen, Jay and Lynn.

Gary enjoyed life with a variety of careers from military service to volunteering. He worked as a DJ in formats from country to talk radio, and found his favorite job was entertaining people from work as a tour guide to square dance calling, being a master of ceremonies to teaching. He learned to call in Spain and carried that passion with him throughout the years even calling at nationals.

His favorite pastimes included spending time with family, fishing, traveling, cooking, Red Sox baseball, trivia and reading.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Haven Hospice, Suwannee Valley Care Center as his celebration of life is to be determined.
