Gene Albert Underwood 80 of Escondido, Ca. passed away Peacefully Friday Nov 9, 2012, at his son Kenny's home in Los Angeles, Ca.He was Born Sept. 24, 1932 in Bard, Ca. The youngest of 8 children born To William and Elsie (Richardson) Underwood.He Graduated high school in Perris, Ca at the age of 17, then joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army he returned to Ca. Where he began work as a long haul truck driver. In 1955 he met and Married Reinette Dinsmore where together they had 4 children. In 1967 after he was divorced, he met and later married his best friend Rosie and along with her 2 children, and his 4 children they moved to Palmdale, Ca. Where they had 1 child together. He began working as a Forman for a couple of alfalfa ranches, where he worked alongside his wife and children for many years. He returned to long haul truck driving and did that for many more years until he retired in 1996. He moved to Escondido Ca. in 1997 and decided he wanted to go back to work, so he began working for the North County Times Newspaper where he worked until 2 days before he passed away. He was a hard worker his entire life. A devoted husband and a very proud and loving father. Who instilled a great work ethic in each of his children. He enjoyed going to the casino and taking care of his 2 cats Dreyfus and PJ who he loved very much.He was preceded in death by his wife Rose, son Chuckie, and brothers Jackie and Gerald.He is survived by his Daughter Luanne Underwood of Manhattan Beach, Ca.Sons Gene (Patty) of Norwalk, Ca, Tom (Cecelia) of Los Alamitos, Ca., Ken (Maria) of Los Angeles, Ca. Daughters Betty (Michelle) Vazquez of Redlands, Ca. , his baby girl Tish Underwood of Woodland Hills, Ca., Sister Dorothy Clements, Brothers Walter, Leroy, Sidney, and Glenn Underwood, 9 Grandchildren, Paul, Zachery, Valerie, Vanessa, Victoria, Lance, Daisy, Jaimie, Beatriz, 8 Great grand children, Eli, Viviana, Jordan, Jayden, Corey, Leah, Daelyn, and Katherine, His Best friend Arline Kosarek, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of his life will take place on Dec 7, 2012 @ 11:30 am at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Ca. He was a man with a great love of The Lord, and his Family.
