Glenn Ainsworth Pickeral

Glenn Ainsworth Pickeral passed away on July 3, 2017 in Portland, Oregon. He was born on December 31,1941, in Washington D.C., to Clyde and Lillian Pickeral.

After graduating from Feitshans High School in Springfield, Illinois, Glenn enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served 3 tours during the Vietnam War. While in the service, Glenn received many awards and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, as well as numerous Good Conduct Medals. Glenn reached the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring from the Air Force in 1978.

After his retirement from the military, Glenn moved to Beaverton, Oregon, having been recruited by Tektronics, an electronics manufacturing company. During his time with Tektronics, he worked as both a manufacturing line manager and projects manager. Glenn left the company to go to work for the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 2004.

Glenn was a devoted family man and proud Air Force veteran who loved to golf and took pleasure in driving his Chevy SSR. His babyback ribs and pan-fried mush were the best! Glenn enjoyed meeting new people and was always at ease in a crowd, striking up conversation without hesitation. His quirky sense of humor and his steadfast support of those he loved will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Beth; his children, Kelli Hoerter and Bryan Pickeral; stepchildren, Mia Wilson (Jame), Trish Morrison, and Marti Van Tubergen (Jodie); sister, Anne Jackson (Tony); brother, Bill Pickeral; grandchildren Brianne Wilson-Mattke (Stephan), Kati & Brady Schuh, and Hannah & Logan Morrison.

In honor of his service to the nation, a military honors funeral will be held at Willamette National Cemetary on July 28, 2017 at 12:00pm. A celebration of life will follow at Forest Hills Golf Club from 2:00-4:00 pm.
